is
a multidimensional artist working within a variety of creative mediums including
visual arts, written works, art cars, and music. Having an interest in working
in these mediums at an early age, he has always used Northwest Ohio as a base
for his creative pursuits.
Playing
with bands at music clubs since the age of 14, Donahue has worked in the field
of music ever since, performing in the 1980s, and 1990s, in such notable groups
as the Great Bar B-Que Gods and most recently, Universe Crew. With Universe
Crew, Donahue has released recordings worldwide through the On-U Sound/Green
Tea record label from London, England.
In
the visual arts field, he works with two and three dimensional collage, street
photography and art cars. He has exhibited his work in galleries and art festivals
regionally in Northwest Ohio, as well as nationally and internationally. He
has also conducted and instructed art workshops in the Northwest Ohio area.
His
writings have been published in numerous magazines and journals. In 1999/2000
he published his first book on the nationally known Hines Farm Blues Club, entitled,
Ill Take You There: An Oral and Photographic History of the Hines
Farm Blues Club. This book went on to receive the Best Blues Book Of The
Year Award From Real Blues Magazine, and has been critically acclaimed nationally
and internationally.
He
received his PhD from Bowling Green State University in American Culture Studies,
and a Masters of Library and Information Science from Kent State University.
He currently teaches in the Department of Popular Culture at Bowling Green State
University. He has lectured in the classroom as well as at conferences in fields
of culture and creativity throughout the United States.
