About
Mary... |
|||||
Mary Kuebelbeck was
born and raised in a small farming town in central Minnesota. Being the
youngest of 8 children, she was special to her father. They spent countless
hours in his workshop building birdhouses, repairing farm equipment, and
so on. Her early introduction to power tools and machines created a spark
that has developed into a passion. Shortly after graduating high school in 1981, Mary spent 2 years at St. Cloud University studying Botany. In 1984, she moved to the Pacific Northwest where she began working with plants and flowers on a full-time basis. At this time, she took up photography and began studying her subject matter through a lens. In 1994, she put down the camera and picked-up a welding torch. For the last 9 years, she has studied the art of welding through Bellingham Technical College. There she met Pam Hom and Jere Mondau, and the 3 of the them help create an unique working environment at "The Other Roadside Attraction", Pam's gallery in Mt. Vernon, Washington. Together, they have inspired other women to pursue the pleasure and satisfaction of creating works of art from scrap metal and mild steel. Mary's work varies from the whimsical to serious; the small to the large; static to functional. Her work is always on display at "A Lot of Flowers", in Bellingham, Washington, or available by commission. |
