I am a Marooned Angel. By choice. Marooned, meaning isolated. Detached. I choose to be. One. To see the world. In a different light. From a distance. And up close. You'll see. It is a lot nicer. Here. In my world. You find order. In extremes. You find solace. By yourself. And stand-out. Above others. Here. You see yourself unique. From others. Biting the bane of conformity. Norms of society. The status quo. Here. And from afar. It is. Totally. Different. I have my own. World. Where individually. You are. A key player. Living with others. Yes. Fellow angels. With different backgrounds. And social status. Marooning. Themselves. Just like me. World of diversity. Isolated from. The rest. Situated on. The highest planes. Conflicts. Of personalities? Convictions? It happens. All the time. Here. In my world. Competition with yourself. And others. Such occurrences. Are but. Normal. But there are. Common threads. That bind us. Into a strand. Undying principles. Grounded in. Self-realization. And critical perspectives. Sprinkled with action. We strive for them. Immortally. Never. In apathy. That's what we are. What I am. What this site is. All about. A Marooned Angel. About the site: To reveal myself, I am Erika Jane Cabel Dandal. Yes, the Marooned Angel has a name. I am a Communication Research student from the College of Mass Communication. University of the Philippines, Diliman. Just so you want to know more about the site, it is a personal website (designed and maintained by the angel herself) which currently contains writings, both from my previous and present classes, my favorite articles and recommended readings. Additional contents are: my photos and organizations in the University. But why Marooned Angel, you ask again? Well, it's about my school life, mixed with bits of my personal life. No clear connection? Then let's break it down. I used the term "marooned" to associate it with my being a UPian, and of course, my (sometimes) introverted personality. Though I am not an angel per se let's just say I have a penchant for it, and so the word "angel". The choice of words represent the merging of the aspects of my personal and social life in the University. And why such topic? It's not about being vain, but since a website is required in our Journalism109 class, it's easier to talk, write about, criticize and degrade my self and of course, the stuff I do in school. So there you have it. If you put those words together, you have "Marooned Angel", an isolated, yet unique angel. And that'll be, (*ahem*) ME (*with conviction*).
