Smocking for girls is an art form that is both beautiful and practical.  The tiny pleats manage fullness in skirt and sleeves, allowing the dress to grow with the child.  The deep hem in this basic yoke dress can be let down multiple times.  You can usually grow the dress about two sizes.  Margaret Smith dresses are fully smocked front and back. Button closure in back.
