Overview

Men Accessing Community & Health Services, MACHS, was formed early in 1999 as a response to community consultations.

The group operates under the auspice of Healthy Cities Noarlunga Inc, and is supported by Noarlunga Health Services, City of Onkaparinga, Adelaide Central Mission and interested members of the public.

Core membership consists of community workers from various agencies and interested men & women from the wider community. The primary focus of this group is to work towards the improvement of men & boys general health & well being in the southern region of Adelaide.

  • Evaluation of the Common Ground Conference recommendations

Aims of MACHS
In consultation with the community this group aims to:

  • Increase men's access to, and use of, community and health related services in the southern area of Adelaide SA,
  • Identify preferred means of accessing these services,
  • Identifying strategies for disseminating information to men on
    services available,
  • Identify gaps in services to men,
  • Advocate / lobby / advise existing services on strategies for delivering services to men,
  • Support community based initiatives that encourage men to participate in the life of the community,
  • Seek funding to achieve these aims,
  • Establish and support a network of community & agency representatives to work towards the achievement of these aims,

MACHS meets fortnightly at the
Adelaide Central Mission, 111 Beach Road ,
Christies Beach, South Australia
on Fridays from 12 - 3 pm
The group welcomes community & government agency representatives and interested members of the community to participate in their activities.

Sponsorship & support is also being sought amongst the business, government, community sector, service organisations or individual members from the wider community who can provide the necessary energy, financial, in-kind support, or volunteer commitment to this important project are welcomed to contact:
