Concern for the Greeks
Today’s Macedonians are descendants of the Antic
Macedonians, says research results from the Swiss Genealogy
Institute iGENEA
The
research by the Swiss Institute iGenea, frustrated the Greeks. The
iGenea Institute explores the genetics of European people, and it is
one of the leaders in the world in DNA analysis. The institute
confirmed that today's descendants of the ancient Macedonians are
Macedonians.
When asked by a Greek
citizen: "What is the origin of the Slavo-Macedonians?" The iGenea
on her official Forum replied:
First of all, they are Macedonians, not Slavo-Macedonians as
you mention because of your political reasons. The majority of
Macedonians are direct descendants of the ancient, and only a small
part of them has Slavic origin. For the greater disappointment of
the Greeks iGenea revealed that 32% were of Hellenic Greek,
Macedonian, even Arab origin. Other 31% of Greeks have Celts, 12%
German and Slavic, and 11% have Illyrian origin.
For
the Albanians and their faith iGenea confirmed the opposite of her
belief, iGenea says that it is the smallest percentage of Illyrian
origin. Considering the DNA analysis, only 20% of Albanians have
Illyrian origin, while 40% of the citizens of
Bosnia and Herzegovina are direct
descendants of the Illyrians.
In the last period is the official forum of the Swiss Institute
iGenea with questions fully, by the Greek citizens arrive, which is
mostly about the origin of the Macedonians instead of their own
origin of interest. iGenea in their centers, except for the DNA
analysis, uses historical, anthropological and archaeological
resources.
Today’s Macedonians are descendants of the Antic Macedonians, says
research results from the Swiss Genealogy Institute iGENEA. For a
second time an independent research institution confirms what
Oxford
and Madrid University confirmed a decade ago.
iGENEA is the most
famous global Genealogy institute who once again frustrated the
Greek government by confirming the direct connection between the
Macedonians today and in Antic times.
The question came from a
Greek citizen who asked iGENEA the following question: "What are the
roots of today’s SlavMacedonians".
The Institute responded:
"Before all, they are Macedonians, not Slav Macedonians as you
referred to them for political reasons. The largest part of the
Macedonians are direct descendants of the Antic Macedonians. Only a
minor portion have a Slavic connection".
iGENEA backed up their
findings with hard numbers. However, tying the today's Macedonians
with Antic Macedonians is not the only disappointing information for Greece.
According to iGENEA, only 32 percent of Greek citizens have
Macedonian, Hellenic and even Arab origin. iGENEA further explains
that 31 percent of Greek citizens have Celtic roots, 12 percent
Germanic and Slavic origin, while 11% have Illyrian roots.
iGENEA also negated the
Illyrians roots of the Albanians. In stark contrast to Albanian
beliefs, iGENEA says the Albanians have the least Illyrian roots.
Only 20 percent of the Albanians have Illyrian roots, while 40
percent of today’s Bosnians have Illyrian roots.
In the past several
months, the iGENEA Genealogy Institute had been flooded with
requests by Greek Citizens who, ironically, did not care for their
own origin, but all questions were aimed at the Macedonians' origin.
iGENEA in its research uses DNA analysis, historical, archeological,
and anthropological sources.
Alexander Donski’s bestseller available in English!!!
THE MYSTERY OF THE COPPER BOOK
The Australian publisher in Sydney, MNLD “Grigor Prlichev” launched the
English version of “THE MYSTERY OF THE COPPER BOOK”, the historic
thriller written by the famous Macedonian historian and writer
Alexander Donski. The Macedonian version of this novel (reviewed by
prof. Maria Kubaiska and d-r Michael Seraphinoff) created a
tremendous impact upon the readership and has become one of the top
best-sellers in Macedonia for 2008.
What great secrets does this mysterious Copper Book contain? The
book that actually exists and is a part of a private collection in Macedonia today.
Could this book hold the key to the greatest mystery concerning
Alexander the Great?
These are the historical
facts:
In 199 BC the Roman emperor Septimius
Severus, decided to transfer the casket of
Alexander the Great to some secret
location, along with: “…all of the books that contain secret
knowledge, so that no one in the future would be able to view
Alexander's remains or read what the
books say.” (Source: Dio Cassius, "History
of Rome", 76,13).
In 1979 the world-renowned clairvoyance Granny Vangia (born in
Macedonia) declared that the stone sarcophagus with a body of some
great emperor, together with the secret writings, were secretly
transported from Egypt by slaves with camels “to our lands” and that
the secrets contained therein were "beyond the comprehension of
present-day people". (Source: Krasimira Stojanova: "Vangia", Sofia,
1989).
In 1989 a representative of the
Vatican visited
the government leaders of Yugoslavia
and probably showed them certain secret writings from the Vatican's
library. Not long after that, units of the Yugoslav army partitioned
off sections of the Belasitsa Mountain Range (in the southern part
of the present day
Republic
of Macedonia).
That same year there was a secret attempt by authorities on the
Greek side of the border to tunnel under Belasitsa to the Yugoslav
side. Eight Greek workers were reportedly killed in the attempt and
the project was cancelled. (Source: a classified file of the former
Yugoslav State Security Service.).
Is the decoding of these mysterious events and testimonies waiting
to be found in the secret Copper Book?
One of its five pages contains the writing, both in Latin and in
Medieval Cyrillic letters: ANTIKU ALEKSANDU BASILEU BENEDIKTU
BOGATSTVO (The wealth of the blessed ancient emperor Alexander).
Mysterious signs that clearly are associated with a map are
designed, and the words GROB (grave), MISTERIJA (mystery), PESHTERA
(cave), RID (hill), PAT (road), BAZILIKA (basilica) and others are
inscribed. The
novel is translated from Macedonian into English by d-r Michael
Seraphinoff.
The book contains 210 pages. The
price per copy is 15 CAD. The price includes mailing costs
throughout the world.

Third Macedonian Film Festival in Toronto
I recently attended the 3 th Annual
Macedonian Film Festival held in
Toronto
October 18 & 19 2008.
This Film Festival was the Celebration of 100 Years of Macedonian
Film and accomplishments of creativity and talent. The Festival
presented films from young emerging and more established filmmakers
both unique, with the spark dialogues and inspiring stories. The
Executive Director Virginia Evans in her welcome speech was
expressing gratitude to all donors, sponsors and volunteers who were
helping in this event.
From the short conversation with Ms. Evans I realized that she has
been an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and she volunteered at
many artistic ventures such as Toronto International Film Festival,
Hot Docs Film Festival and run a community theatre group for 13
years. Ms. Evans passion and commitment as well as her vision and
experience in working with Macedonian community enable the
establishment of the Macedonian Film Festival in
Toronto. She continues to be creative in her
driving force to bring the community together.I
had a pleasure to see the film and meet with
the editor of “In
Continuo” Mr Mile Petkovski,
He came from Macedonia to be the guest at the
Festival. He is a Film and TV editor and he teaches at
University
of Audiovisual Art in
Skopje
Macedonia.
This film “In Continuo” is sponsored
by the Bitove Family
Foundation.
This 100 minutes Documentary,
directed by Trajche
Popov, was made in 1988 and dedicated the the 50 th anniversary of
the Exodus of the children from the Aegean part of Macedonia during
the Greek Civil War.
Using historical facts, archival
material and actual film footage, film tells the story of the
genocide of the Macedonian people in this part of Macedonia.
In the spring of 1948 over 28 .000 Macedonian children left
Greece and sought refuge across the border into
the Vardar part of Macedonia and eventually into the counties such
as Poland, Romania, Hungary
and
Czechoslovakia.
This film was very impressing and
extremely touching for me, I would kindly suggest to everyone to see
it.
I am glad that 3 Macedonian Film
Festival turned out very successful and well attended.
It has accomplished its mission to
entertain and promote cinematic arts as well as educate and raise
awareness of Macedonian culture and identity.

Do koga so novinarstvo }e se zanimavaat

Kako se slu~ilo vo makedonskite iseleni~ki sredini novinarstvoto

Fourth World Reunion of the
Refugee Children from Aegean
Macedonia
By Risto Stefov rstefov@hotmail.com
Two thousand and eight is the 60th year since the
expulsion of 28,000 Macedonian refugee children from Aegean
Macedonia or more commonly known to Macedonians as Greek occupied Macedonia. At
the height of the Greek Civil War under the pretext of “saving them”
children between the ages of two and fourteen were collected from
every Macedonian village in Western Macedonia and sent to various
Eastern-European countries that were willing to accept them. Their
mothers were told the evacuation was to be only temporary and the
children would be returned after the war was over. But 60 years
later the Greek government still does not want these children back.
What have they done? What crimes have they committed? Questions
still go unanswered.
Unable to
return, these children now old men and women wandering the world
from time to time get together to plead their case to the Greek
government to let them return. Unfortunately the Greek government
has no sympathy for them not even to let them in for a short visit
to see their ailing parents for one last time or to let them light a
candle at the graves of their dead. To this day Greece keeps blocking their entry.
Today
many, now grandfathers, great grandfathers, grand mothers and great
grandmothers, live in the Republic of Macedonia,
Canada, Australia, the USA and the world over are meeting
for the 4th time as a group. Many have said this may be
the last time they will meet as they are getting too old and will no
longer be able to travel so they used this last opportunity to plead
with the Greek government one more time to give them the opportunity
to visit their birthplace before they pass on. But still they got
silence and no entry at the borders. In fact this year there were
rumours that some Neo-Nazi Greek groups were threatening to cause
them bodily harm if they attempted to enter Greece. So once again they met, this
time in Skopje,
with their wishes unfulfilled.
I must say that I was
fortunate to have been part of the Detsa Begaltsi’s (Refugee
Children’s) 4th International Reunion in Skopje on July
18, 19, 20 and 21 this year (2008) and able to attend some of their
events. I was able to attend the opening ceremonies at the “Boris
Trajkovski” Sports Stadium which commenced on Friday July 18th
at noon where about 6,000 people had gathered to meet and make
speeches. Among the many who spoke I recognized Petse Vasiliads from
Vinozhito, Edmond Temelko Mayor of Pustets, Jordan Konstandinov activist from Pirin Macedonia, Todor
Petrov President of the Macedonian World Congress, Lefter Mantze,
Risto Cackirovski, the Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament and
others. There I met activists from all over the world as well as
many I had heard of and had never met such as Petse Vasiliadis,
Krste Ashlakov and Petse Dimchev from Vinozhito, Kole Sakelarios
Macedonian newspaper editor from Solun and others. I was also happy
to meet many Begaltsi as well as activists I knew including Nase
Parisis from EBLUL.
Later that same day at
8 pm a book promotion was held in the Main Skopje library in honour
of the Detsa Begaltsi followed by poetry reading under the theme “Nezaborav”
(I have not forgotten) at 9 pm at the Sveti Kliment Ohridski Grand
Hall.
On Saturday July 19th
at 9:30 am a symposium was held at MANU which lasted the entire day
where many academics and professors presented essays on the subject
of the lives and experiences of the Begaltsi through the war years.
Then at 11 am liturgy was held at Sveti Kliment in honour of the
fallen in the Greek Civil War followed by an exhibition of art and
speeches dedicated to the Begaltsi at 9 pm.
On Sunday July 20th
a picnic was held at the Leshok Monastery which included mass
followed by music, dancing and performances by various dance and
music groups.
On Monday July 21st the documentary film “Inkontinuo” was
shown followed by a banquet, given in honour of the Begaltsi
gathering, at 9 pm.

IT'S OFFICIAL!
LIGHTNING TAKE STAMKOS WITH NO. 1 PICK
By: Helen
Jankovski
On
Friday, June 20th, 2008 in
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada,
the 2008 NHL Entry Draft was held. The best eighteen year old hockey
players along with family and friends were waiting for their chance
to go pro. One of these eighteen year old hockey players was Steven
Stamkos. Joined by his family and friends, Steven would claim the
number one pick and become the newest member of the Tampa Bay
Lightning.
Steven was selected first overall in the
2006 OHL Priority Draft after scoring 105 goals (105-92--197) for
the Markham Waxers Minor Midget Team.
Prior to the NHL Entry Draft, Stamkos was
the star forward for the Sarnia Stings of the Ontario Hockey League;
here he exemplified great hockey skills, which would later lead to
his success. He
was ranked second in the OHL with 58 goals (58-47--105) in 61 games
played in 2007-08. He was also recognized as the best stick-handler
and voted as having the best shot in the OHL's annual Coaches Poll. “Steve Stamkos is a full and complete player.
He is one of the most complete junior players I've seen in quite
some time. He is head and shoulders above all others. There is no
doubt in my mind this player is the real deal and will be a special
player. The Lightning's history of drafting and developing centermen
is certain to continue” - Scotty Bowman.
The Lightning already have penciled Stamkos into
the second-line center spot when Tampa
opens the 2008-09 season in
Prague,
Czech Republic.
"We think he's NHL-ready right now," said Lightning General Manager
Jay Feaster. "At the NHL trade deadline when we traded Brad
(Richards), we knew we'd immediately be looking for a second-line
center. … We think he has the ability to step in and play now. That
will be determined by what he does in training camp, but those are
the expectations we have."
When Stamkos makes his NHL debut, he will have
Vincent Lecavalier as a mentor. Ten years ago, it was
Lecavalier standing just where Stamkos stood Friday night, as the
first-overall pick of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. “He’s a pure scorer
with sick skills. He’s a great player to watch and it’s going to be
exciting to see him out on the ice,” said Vincent Lecavalier.
This is a proud moment in the Canadian-
Macedonian community. The first Canadian- Macedonian to be drafted
first overall, since Ed Jovanovski in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. Now
Stamkos joins other NHL players of Macedonian heritage which
includes, Steve Staios, Mike Zigomanis, Jose Theodore, and many
others.
“
… an all-around talent in a class all by himself” - Bob McKenzie,
TSN-TV
Canada.
