Royal Penguins weigh about 9.9 pounds and have a height of 24.4 inches tall. They lives in the
cold temperate subantarctic islands. They eat crustaceans and small fish.
Royal penguins have orange, yellow, and black crests that join on the top of the head. They
also have white or gray chins. Royal penguins only breed on Macquarie Island from September
to March. Nests are lined with stones or grass. Two eggs are usually laid. Incubation takes 35
days. After the chicks are hatched the male guards and raises the chicks for 10 to 20 days while
the female brings food home daily. The chicks are ready to leave the nest when they are 65 days
old. Their enemies are: brown skuas, wekas, and giant petrels.
