The snares island penguin weighs about 6.6 pounds and is about 22 inches tall. Of course, they
live on Snares Island. They eat crustaceans and fish.
Snares Island penguins have a broad crest extending from the beak to the back of the head.
Snares Island penguins only breed on Snares Island from September to January. Incubation
takes 31 to 37 days shared by both parents. The male raises and guards the chick for 3 weeks.
The chicks go out on their own when they are about 75 days old. Their predators are: giant
petrels, brown skuas, and Hooker's sea lions.
