Beaches

On Karpathos are many nice beaches and most of them with crystalclear water. Some of them are very popular and crowdy others are not wellknown and you will have your private little beach. Here i'll explain some of the popular nice beaches. If you want to go to those unknown beaches, near the airport are many of them.

This is a very nice and quiet beach. You can go there by a small excursionboat. The boatcrew also take care of a small barbeque on the beach. There are sunbeds and parasols available. If you want to go by car it is possible but watch out because the road is not paved.

One of my favorite beaches. It's a sandy/pebble beach, and you can reach it by the same excursionbat as the one to Apela, but you can go here as well by car or

bike. Only a small part of the road is unpaved. There are two taverna's, sunbeds and parasols available.

One of the most popular beaches on Karpathos. At Amopi there are three beaches, from a sandy beach to a rocky beach. This beach is also very good if you have small children,

This because the beach slopes gently into the sea. On big Amopi are taverna's and also sunbeds and parasols available. Here you can also play beachvolley. On the smaller beaches are no taverna's, and only a few sunbeds. You can go to amopi by car or bike, but if you like to walk, there is a special road, it takes about 1 1/2 hour to walk from Pigadia to Amopi. The local buses go here a few times a day as well. Check at the busstation around what time they depart.

Near the capital of Karpathos is a large beach. Here you can find several taverna's, and some of them are also open during the evenings. Also on this beach sunbeds and parasols are available. But watch out for the stones if you go into to sea, they can be slippery. During highseason, you can do some watersports here as well, like a ride with the bananaboat, pedalboats and on the beach you can play beachvolley.

You can go easily by car to Lefkos. Even the trip to Lefkos, about 1 hour, is beautiful. At Lefkos you can find two sandybeaches. At the biggest one is a taverna, but on both beaches you can find the sunbeds and parasols. Lefkos is really a visit worth it.

A real surfers' paradise!!
There's is most of the time enough wind to surf. You'll find here several surfstation's. So if you didn't bring your own surfboard to Karpathos, you can rent one at one of the surfstation's. But even if you don't like surfing you can find here a lot of small lonely beaches.
At the beaches where also the surfstation's are you can find taverna's. But here are no sunbeds or parasols available.

The nice beach of Arkassa is famous because of her waves. This one of the beaches where you can jump into the waves and play with them. At the beach are sunbeds and parasols available and you can play here also beachvolley. A taverna is situated near the beach, so you can wath during a dinner the beautiful sunset at Arkassa. You can go here by car, bike but also by local bus. Check at the local busstation in Pigadia the times.
