Hello and Welcome to the Sources for the Existence of King Arthur! Please feel free to click on the links on the left side of the screen.

The story of King Arthur has caused a huge collection of references including movies, animations, books and video presentations. He alone has captured the imagination of millions. The legend of King Arthur is well known and is probably the only story that people have heard about the elusive hero. Many scholars study this 'story', and not the historical aspect, on its own and the wealth of literature it has caused including novels and plays. I will not go into any great depth about these literary contributions as they could, by themselves, fill an entire website and, indeed, a small library.

This literary view of the 'Arthur mystery' is not the focus of this site. I wish to go more into the historical aspect of the Arthur story, attempting to compile a list of sources as I go and try to come one step closer to answering the question, "Did he exist at all or was he a mere concoction in the scribblings of a Medieval storyteller?"

This website can serve as a starting point for anyone interested in finding the truth behind the Arthur story. I am confined by a word limit on this site and have had considerably cut down what I had originally intended to feature whilst still trying to convey what I want to say about Arthur.
