The Lonely Night
I walk along looking upward
to the billions of stars splashed
upon the cold black velvet sky;
the moon is new, letting the stars bloom full.
The cold wind cuts at my cheeks
and then subsides, making my skin numb.
As I walk onward my thoughts turn to you;
so soft, so warm, so pretty, our souls as one.
The heart and soul of an angel,
yet so provocative, my lady, my lover, my friend.
You know my innermost thoughts, my secrets,
my passions, my desires, my needs.
As I walk on I hear a wolfs lonely howl;
as if he knows my pain.
The wind cuts colder, stinging my cheeks,
and sends a shiver through my bones.
My heart aches, a lump swells
in my throat. Missing you so much,
a tear forms in the corner of my eye.
I trudge slowly onward against the cold wind.
I see a falling star and make a wish.
Soon my love, soon, we will be together again,
never to be apart, our souls as one,
and our bodies rewarding our commitment to each other.
I pledge my love to you, forever, even through death;
our souls touched and validated our existence.
Now the emptiness overpowers my senses.
I need you, I want you, I love you, deeper than the cold night sky.
