THE MOUNTAINS
You step onto a large mountain. Listening closely as you walk, you can hear the cries of gryphons, the sound of fluttering wings, and the sound of claws scraping against rock. You are almost to the top of the mountain when you encounter a loyal looking gryphon, you looks down at you through beady eyes.
After looking at the gryphon for a few seconds, it speaks to you through its mind. "Hello traveller, I am Costello. I am the protector of the creatures that live on this mountain. This mountain is the home of gryphons and hippogriffs only. If you promise not to steal any of the creatures here, I will let you view the residents of our mountain." You nod, and Costello moves out of the way, allowing you to pass onto the top of the mountain. Looking down the other side, you see a nest. You see no mother or eggs, but a young hippogriff stands by the nest, looking down the mountain at something.
Costello comes up behind you, speaking again. "This is Simon. He is a young hippogriff...he stays on that side of the mountain and hardly ever speaks, I assume he will be a loner when he grows up." Costello pauses. "There is another mountain north of here. Just one creature lives there...Would you like to go there?" Nodding, Costello points you towards the mountain. You walk through a deep, empty valley then climb the other mountain.
You return from the Northern mountain. "Welcome back," Costello says with a smile. You suddenly hear a female voice behind you say "Hi..." Turning, you see a large purple gryphon.

The griffon grins at you, then looks at Costello. Fluttering her eyelashes, she says in a smooth voice "Hi, Costello." "Hi, T'Sahra," he says, rolling his eyes. T'Sahra winks at you, then walks away. Costello explains, "That's T'Sahra. She's been obsessed with me since she's moved here." You laugh. "Your a great couple!" you tease. Costello turns red. "Anyway," he says slowly, "There are two child gryphs around here somewhere..." You hear a female giggle, and a young male voice say "Here!" you look to the left to see the two gryphon children.

"Hi," the dark blue one male says. "I'm Tusoko, and this is my sister, Tosuko." "Tusoko and Tosuko. Interesting," you comment. "Shut up," the green, tom-boy female snaps. Costello glares at them. "They get mad when people insult their names," he explains apologetically, "they named themselves, since they're mother abandoned them." "Oh, I'm sorry," you say to the cubs. "Don't worry about it," Tusoko says quickly. While he is looking at you, Tosuko pounces him. "Hey!" he giggles, and they go rolling down the hill, quarrling. Costello chuckles. "There are more gryphons on the mountain over there," Costello says, pointing to a mountain in the south. Nodding, you bid your farewells to him and go down into the valley that seperates the mountains.
