Michael Family in Decatur County, Indiana
The Michael family has been an elusive family to figure out. I have gone through some of the land records in Dearborn and Decatur County. Indiana. There are several land records between the Michael families and the Evans families.
Generation One
The Michael family starts out with Paulus or Paul Michael born 1708, who came over from Rotterdam, Germany on the ship Samuel died March 30, 1768. He married Christina and settled in York County, Pennsylvania. He left his will there in 1768 naming his sons Henry, William Johann, daughters Anna Cathrina, Cathrina and Margaret.
Generation Two
Henry Michael born 1736 Germany came over on the ship Samuel with his father Paulus Michael, he died after 1790 in Cumberlain Township, Decatur County, Pennsylvania. Married Cristina Kargas January 6, 1756 Lower Windsor, York County, Pennsylvania. Christina was born about 1748 Lower Windsor, York County, Pennsylvania, died after 1790.

Generation Three
Casper Michael born 1756 York County, Pennsylvania married Johanna Fuchs before 1788 in Pennsylvania, moved to Morgan Town, Mongolia County, Virginia. Casper died about 1838 in Dearborn County, Indiana. It is also possible that Casper and Johann had other children that stayed in Virginia.

Phillip Michael born 1779 in Morgan Town, Mongolia County, Virginia married Mary Evans born 1784 Pennsylvania according to the 1850 census of Decatur County, Indiana. died after 1850 in Decatur County, Indiana. Mary died after 1860 Decatur County, Indiana. She is shown on the 1860 Decatur County, Indiana census living with Lavinia Michael Evans.
The children of Phillip Michael and Mary Evans are a hard group to try to put togeather. If anyone has a different theory of the children of Phillip and Mary Evans Michael please let me know. Only two of their children have been proven. They are Edward Michael and Lavinia Michael.

8. Orpha E. Michael born 1819 Dearborn County, Indiana married Benjamin Reese Voiles May 31, 1841 Decatur County, Indiana
9. Hannah Michael married Peter Boltz September 27, 1832, Dearborn County, Indiana
10. Jacob Michael married Elizabeth Miller, August 19, 1836, Dearborn County, Indiana
11. Micha Michael married Barbara Evans, February, 26, 1846, Decatur County, Indiana
Phillip Michael and Mary Evans Michael had at least twelve children according to the 1820/1830/and 1840 census of Dearborn County, and Decatur County, Indiana.
If this is true I need to track down one more daughter of Phillip and Mary Evans Michael.
How did I come to my conclusion's?
Casper Michael left a "Love Deed" to Phillip and Eli. This was usually done by parents to their children for care in their old age. Though I believe that Phillip Michael is a son of Casper Michael, but probably not a son of Johanna unless the estimated marriage date of Casper and Johanna is wrong.
In the land records of Dearborn and Decatur County, Phillip Michael who married Mary Evans is a witness in the land transfer of to John and Eli Michael from Casper and Hannah (Johanna) Michael on May 31, 1828.
Casper and Johanna got $100.00 from Phillip and Mary Evans Michael on October 10, 1834.
Edward Evans and Eleanor sales land to Ratliff and Melissa Voiles Evans on January 5, 1846. Melissa Voiles Evans is the step daughter of Orpha E. Michael who married Benjamin Reese Voiles, her mother is Polly Lloyd.
Phillip Michael and Mary Evans sale land to Casper and Hester Ann Michael and Jared and Ruth Shoemake Michael for $100.00 on October 10, 1834 .

Edward Michael and Eleanor Connor had a son Ratliff Michael born 1844. Ratliff Evans had married Melissa Voiles, step daughter of Orpha E. Michael and daughter of Benjamin Reese Voiles.

Phillip Michael is administrator for Jared Evans will sales land he got from Jared Evans to William Dawson and John Dykeman, October 13, 1826. Is it possible that Jared Evans is the father of Mary Evans?

I also believe that Orpha E. Michael and Edward Michael both born in 1819 Dearborn County, Indiana are twins, Twins usually run every other generation. Orpha Michael married Benjamin Reese Voiles in 1841 and they had a son William Henry Voiles who married Ruth Michael, daughter of Phillip Michael and Elizabeth. William Henry Voiles and Ruth Michael had a set of twin girls born in 1876 in Decatur County, Laura Ann and Flora Rena Voiles. Laura Ann Voiles married Alfred Allen Owens and had two children. No. twins. Alfred Allen Owens and Laura Ann Voiles Owens had a daughter Lula Inez Owens who married Ernie Black. Lula Inez Owens and Ernie Black had a set of twins Robert Lee Black and Ethel Mae Black. None of my Aunts and Uncles had any twins. But a number of my cousins have had twins.
If brother and sister Michael's married brother and sister Shoemake then Dedimiah Michael would be daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth, Also if Barbara Evans and Michael Evans are brother and sister then Micha Michael would be a son of Phillip and Mary. It is the same with Casper Michael and Hester Boltz, if Hester and Peter are brother and sister, then Hannah Michael would be daughter of Phillip and Mary.
