Voiles Family Tree

Jacob Voiles was born about 1718 in Pembrokeshire, Wales he died about 1789 on South Carolina. His wife's name may be Martha
Jacob came from Wales about 1755/56 with his four sons, William, Thomas, John and James Voiles.

William Voiles was about fourteen years of age when his father incurred unexpected debts on the trip over. William was indentured to a ship's captain for four years to help pay off the debt. William was very upset about this, he settled in North Carolina instead of South Carolina.  William has been found in the DAR records and the National Archives listing him as a soldier of the American Revolution in the North Carolina Militia.

Sometime later William's brothers followed him to Mecklenburg County,  and Carabuss County North Carolina.  Carabuss County was carved out of Mecklenburg County in 1792.

In  the 1790 census William and Thomas are in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. James was in Rowan County, North Carolina and John was in South Carolina.

Thomas Voiles is listed as receiving pay from the state of North Carolina for services during the Revolutionary War
