About the Author

author Janice L. Dennie

Janice L. Dennie has written a line of historical and contemporary romance novels based on the history of Ethiopia, and its origin in the Solomonic line of kings, which descends without interruption from the dynasty of Menelik I, son of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon. To date she has completed two books in her Ethiopian trilogy, Moon Goddess Queen of Sheba (April 99) and The Lion of Judah (Aug. 97), and she is hard at work on book three, Menelik and the Lost Ark.

Moon Goddess Queen of Sheba, is the story of one of the most imposing figures of African history. The Queen of Sheba, a rich and powerful ruler, presided over what is today called Ethiopia, Yemen, the Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and parts of southern India. Known as Makeda, the queen fell in love with King Solomon and ruled from her palace in Axum (AKA Sheba) in the 10th century B.C. Menelik and the Lost Ark, is the story of the founding of Ethiopia's Solomonic line of kings beginning with Menelik, the country's first king, and how he brought the Ark of the Covenant to Ethiopia. The Lion of Judah is a contemporary romance that stems from the powerful dynasty that reined over Ethiopia for centuries, and the bloodline that flowed through Johannas Harare, the title character.

Ms. Dennie began writing a trilogy about the queen of Sheba and her descendants after reading an article in a news magazine about Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, also known as, The Lion of Judah, the last of a ruling dynasty.

She has always been fascinated with pre-colonial, sub-Sahara Africa, a period when royalty built and presided over massive kingdoms without the aid of modern technology. And she is hoping that historical fiction readers will be as captivated as she was by this romantic story of a stunning moon worshipper who caught the eye of a king, and their intriguing family tree.

Ms. Dennie holds a bachelor's degree from California State University at Hayward. In addition to writing, she enjoys spending time with her family and servicing her community through her church and sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Her other interests include traveling and visiting art exhibits and museums. One of her favorite museums is the IDA DENNIE-WILLIS MUSEUM OF MINIATURES, in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Ms. Dennie enjoys hearing from her fans. You can email her at janicedennie@hotmail.com.
