There are good prospects for floriculture in Western and hill areas of the State. There is a tradition of growing aromatic flowers in the Kannauj area. The international market can be conveniently approached due to flower producing are being near to Delhi. Therefore, export possibilities of flowers from the State are immense. There are many success stories of private entrepreneurs in floriculture. Although, government has given special attention to food and vegetables, it is an accepted fact that there are good possibilities of profit in the commercial cultivation of flowers.
In this context the agriculture policy will put emphasis to the following points: -
Supply of high quality planting material and seed will be ensured.
Strong links will be maintained between producers, banking institution and markets.
Traditional areas for flower production will be identified to develop floriculture and strengthened to meet the demand of domestic and international markets.
Establishment of cool chain in the private sector will be encouraged.
Infrastructure facilities will be developed to promote exports.
Storage facilities, modern markets and auction centres will be established for flowers.
Marketing Information's, new technology and export possibilities in the international markets for flowers will be widely publicized.
Ornamental floriculture will be promoted in the State.
