I love to make these appliqued photo
quilts. This quilt was made for my mother's 60 year class reunion in
2008. I printed the old school photo
(as school was in 1948) onto fabric that I had pre-treated with bubble
jet and jet set. Then I just folded the fabric and made a cut out to
make the frame around the fabric photo, doing the same for the out most
frame.
Using Steam-A-Seam Lite 2, I fused the
frames onto the background fabric, only fusing the edges. I fused the
lettering in the same way.
I loaded it on my A-1 longarm machine to
do the quilting and the applique stitching. On the background fabric I
used a dense pebble fill with a flower fill for the yellow frame.
