Privacy Policy

I never dreamed that there would come a day when I would need a privacy policy. However, if I'm going to keep running contests and thus acquiring email addresses, certain things need to be said. Really, it's very simple.

1. I do not ever require, ask for, or want personal information about you. I don't want to know how old you are, where you live, or even necessarily what your real name is. You are free to volunteer this information. If you do, I will not redistribute it without your express permission.
   
   
2. If, for some unforeseen reason, a contest should require some bit of personal info—for example, country of residence—entering that contest and supplying the information would constitute giving permission to display it. This would be part of the contest rules, so you would know what you were getting into.
   
   
3. When you enter a contest, I get your email address... it's unavoidable. I do make lists, and I use them for three things.
   
   
   • First, I reply to let you know I have your entry.
     
     
   • Second, I send announcements to all participants when voting starts and when awards go up. I only put addresses in the "bcc" box, so no one but me ever gets your address. After the contest, I get rid of the list. No one ever sees it but me.
     
     
   • Third, I credit you by giving your email address if you do not have a site. I state this on the contest page, so entering without giving a site is technically giving me permission to display your email. However, my reply thanking you for your entry will also ask if you prefer to keep your email private, giving you one last chance to opt out.
     
     
   If you ask in the original entry or a subsequent email, I will refrain from displaying your address or remove it from the site if it is already there. If you forgot to opt out in your original email, you might have to wait until the next update before the change will be made.
   
   I don't like displaying email addresses, but I also don't like leaving folks uncredited. I've decided to err on the side of crediting.
   
   
4. I have a site tracker that collects information about visitors to this site, including information such as IP address, operating system, and browser capabilities. I use this information purely for my own records, in an effort to keep the site accessible to everyone and to run fair contests. I primarily look at overall patterns. I also check individual referrals, to see who is linking to me (I might link back!) and find out which of my advertising methods are successful. I will never share specific information with anyone.
   
   
5. If you ever have a question or concern about your privacy, don't hesitate to contact me and ask about it. I'm paranoid, myself, so I understand, really I do!
