Bacchanal for so! Woman is real dangerous weapon round
this time for sure. Since the whole dawn of the Carnival 2001 season the
atmosphere became a horny frenzy. Now "horn"
for all you non-trini's means "an affair"
or "having and affair", ok? and
with a number of 2001 soca(music) hits trying
to get in on the hype, "HORN" was the whole theme for this year.
Now as usual yuh(your)
boy, but no fault of mines didn't get to fully enjoy the Carnival season
to its full length because not only was the whole Carnival calendar rammed
like sardine into a whole two weeks but as usual... I was broken(didn't
have money)!!! But yuh boy still manage to hit a few here or there
lets review shall we....
OK! The first fete(party)
was suppose to be Fire Services Fete but its irregular timing colliding
with my financial decapitation. So yuh(yoour)
boy had to chill out until the ever popular, always safe ARMY FETE!!!
safest fete(party) around. Okay now they
went and keep in PSA Grounds for one thing so is dust for so but it eh(didn't)
stop me from gaping and drooling at the flood of nice looking, sexy ass
women that flaunted fleshly-exposed about the fete(party).
Talk bout tight and short? geez! Anyway, the scene(scenery)
was looking like a feeding frenzy and keep in mind the word for today
is "Horn". Now when we reach soca(music)
bands like Atlanik and Surface had already played and the band to come
on the stage next was Blue Ventures. They were cool, yuh(you)
know to start the pace off. Shanelle Dempster who was hot last year came
to a more slow flow with the "Tradesman" which was very well
received and yuh(you) know everybody was
applying for position of "HORNER MAN".
Me, I want employee of the month and with songs like "Tremble
it" by Destra with the band Roy Cape All Stars things started to
get real messy. This woman, all last year was a very quite, easy flowing
kinda woman being her real first entrance into the soca arena. Then BAM!
Like the calm then the storm this woman lash out. Republic Bank Fete at
their sports club in Barataria. Came out in straps suits, Destra with
serious visual presentation to go along with her song. Backside facing
the crowd shook that money maker like a "shak-shak"(musical
insturment) in an up-tempo parang(music)
orchestra. I swore this woman's ass got jolted by lightening. Now I does
cyah really figure out how much muscles are located in woman but I held
on to one and it felt like I was getting a massage from one of those machines
to my lower abdominal region.
Now If that wasn't hard enough I had the chance to see
what could move and what couldn't move when stunts like the original rude
gyal she self Denise Belfon came out at UWI splash with her song "PANIC".
Hello! just completed "putting down"(delivered)
her second or third child came on stage in tights, extra pounds, saucy
attitude and attempted to tease the crowd while repeatedly giving us full
angle view of rhythmic sex exercises. Song good. Didn't look good!.
From all the hottest, raw, adulterated horn songs that
came pelting out at us at every fete the one that had the most impact,
effect and of any significance was surprisingly and no doubt the Horning
National Anthem "Looking for Horn!"
from kaiso(music) veteran the Mighty Shadow
who, by the way is Soca Monarch, Road March King and second runner up
to Denise Plummer, Calypso Monarch. Now folks usually by just the name
alone and by the pace carnival does be at yuh swear it is a fast pace,
riveting, pulsating, sensual aphrodisiac. Wrong! The song was a lazy groove
stimulant with nice melody and interesting lyrics. Yes, I am not a Shadow
fan but I have to admit his two songs were the spotlight of all fetes(party).
Yep! all fetes(party).
Now turning away from the whole "HORN" thing
there were other really great songs and even more great artiste as they
emerged from out the shadows of the regulars. Bunji Garlin "the girls
dem Darling" with the "ragga-style"(reggae+soca)
for the new millennium evolution of music came hot this here with "Fete".
Very good indeed and it was a perfect picture of what going on in the
Carnival business thing. Bunji had to take second place in the Soca Monarch.
Another performer who I find came out real good in the struggle was Maga
Dan. His song "Lash Satan" which had the Blessings from the
alimghty Father I'm sure made good dent in the crowd which had some patrons
claiming to have the devil in them. Then there was the usual Iwer with
songs which had the hypnotic effect to get even the quietist person behaving
like a cave man with his ass on fire! Ha! There
were many other's like Sean Karut former Xtatix turn TRaffik singer with
his "Accident" which had man crashing all over woman and vice
versa with out proper insurance and ending up on the TNT Mirror newspaper
in real crash dummy position.
You had the foreign acts like T.C. who had the "KIM"
song. Which had everyone who name Kim a prime target from lots of scorned
woman. Rupee had the girls dem wild with his "jump" and had
the big "chest-back, chipping(easy going, one
step) song "INSOMNIA" which is by the way title track
for the big, big "INSOMNIA Fete" at Mobs2 Chaguaramas which
I didn't go cause it is $150 to go inside and still had to pay for drinks
and thing to eat (Wicked and bad people dem(them)
is!!!!). Ever present Allison Hinds and Square one which to me I find
were real quiet with their hits "Top Class Bubbler and Glow".
Then there was Godfrey Dublin. "Taking way Somebody Woman" was
his song and was actually taken literally buy the Trini men to great extent.
to get some serious buss(busted) head!!
So that is not all but ah(I)
go cyah keep going on and on like is best I right the novel for the screen
play OK? but here is a quick summary:
Shadow was the man for this year. Denise Plummer win two
car. Iwer eh(didn't) win Road March. Destra
is no longer a virgin. "Horn" was
the theme for this year. I walked a mile and a half and "Tey Lee
Ley"(Xtatix song sung by Peter C. Lewis).
Traffik was the band for the season. Macheal didn't perform with Xtatix.
Seen?(understand)
