August 27,1997: Information on Netherlands vessel(s) expected soon! PBS(USA TV)aired recently a program on attempts made to locate,survey,explore and discover cause of sinking of H.M.H.S.Britannic in Nov.1916. The PBS web site has a full transcript of this program!

As of the early summer(1997)the USS MERCY is now homeported in San Diego,California(USA)

March 31,1998 - June 2,1998
4 great new links added: 2 on Britannic diving expeditions during 1997 and 1998,1 on Hikawa Maru Japanese WWII hospital ship(photo only) and 1 on USS REPOSE (AH-16) with several personal photos of its Vietnam service by a veteran of the ship during its Vietnam service. The book review promised a little while ago on the SANCTUARY will very shortly appear! REUNIONS page added! 3 reunions listed as of March 31,1998 one definite the other two(?). If you have any further information or news of hospital ship or related medical/health care purpose vessel/craft reunions,meetings and associations will you please let HSI know so that we can post these with permission on the REUNIONS page? Thank you.
April 1,1998: REVIEWS page added with the first book review as promised of that "bathtub"!
June 2,1998: New general section added at start of Historical Links page with 3 new links. Check out especially the History of U.S.Naval Hospital Ships!

September 1998
HSI is currently undergoing reorganization. However several fine images of Russian,German,American and British hospital ships from World War I and earlier will be added to the Historical Album page shortly. Moreover a nice children's book will be reviewed from New Zealand (published in 1998) that covers the semi-fictionalized adventures of a New Zealand nurse aboard the New Zealand Hospital Ship MAHENO. As well some other reviews will be posted including a history of the U.S.Navy Nurse Corps.

November 1998
We have reorganized (and are still working on this)HSI's web pages. We hope to very shortly add a HSI BULLETIN BOARD so that persons from around the world can leave (edited) messages,requests. HSI has received several such messages and especially requests from those seeking employment and/or actual vessels/crafts! This HSI BULLETIN BOARD should go a long way at satisfying those of you who may not unfortunately have received a personal email response from HSI. Our book reviews unfortunately have also been delayed somewhat but will be posted before year's end as will the Russo-German (and possibly other) graphics.

January 1999
Our graphics and reviews have been slightly delayed. However we have added several fine (in some cases excellent) historical links and slightly amended our FLEET REGISTRY. The above materials from November (along with other features/pages) should be up soon! Thank you for your patience.

March 1999
We apologize again for the delays in the appearance of some reviews as well as the HSI BULLETIN BOARD. However prepatory work for the conference to take place later this year in Toronto where HSI will be better formed has precluded the web site development. We do hope though that when the graphics,reviews,bulletin board and general augmentation occurs that you will appreciate the wait for the quality!
