My first impression of NZ is hot. When we first arrived in NZ it is not very hot. But when we went outside, it’s very hot. In the bus it’s hotter.

I am fine. My host family has 4 people. Usually host father cooks and sometimes host mother cooks.
Because my host mother is tired to take care of her baby. Always my lunch is made by my host father.

My first impressions of New Zealand

My first impressions of New Zealand are that it is a very clean country. Now, New Zealand is hotter than Japan. Because New Zealand is summer now. I like summer!
New Zealand has many natures.

First impressions of NZ

My first impressions of NZ is that the sunshine is very strong. So I avoided the sunshine. But Betty said that I came go in the sun if I am careful.

Also food in NZ is healthier than food in Japan. Because amount of a meal is less than Japanese. However sometimes I feel that the food is so sweat.

New Zealander’s life is very free. Here in NZ I go to bed about 9:30. On the bed I keep a diary every day.

It is very difficult for me to watch TV but I try to understand the news.

Effie is my host mother. She is very kind for me. I want to be friends with her more!!gannbarimasu!!

I thought NZ ‘s people look like happy! I thought they have own thinking.
I found that better the air than JAPAN.
When I met a host mum, I was nervous.
But host mum is very kind! I am lucky!
When I arrived at NZ airport, I thought that NZ is very local.
But I found NZ is more city than I lives in city.

First Impression of NZ Satomi Ikenobu

There are many greens. It’s like Hokkaido. But you can see many cows there. New Zealand is quiet. On Sunday, most stores are closed and buses don’t work, so there are few people in the city.
The weather is a little strange. Morning and night are cold, but noon is hot.
My host mother cooks very well, so the food is delicious!

First Impression of NZ Asami Seki

There are many animals and a lot of nature. And there are many Japanese cars and electrical appliances.
NZ has a longer day than Japan. Many shops close very early. Morning and night are a little cold. But noon is very hot and bright.

The food is very delicious. And they use potatoes very much. For example a potato salad, a mashed potato and so on.

The people are very kind.

I’ll talk about NZ life. There are a lot of big trees in NZ and they are very beautiful. NZ people are kind and they are individual. I think it’s very important. There are 3 people in my host family but they look after other children.
I learn many things in NZ. Host mother said, “Do it yourself as soon as you can.” I depend on my mother too much. I realize I can do anything by myself.

I came to Language Institute myself by bus. I could buy day saver ticket today. Yesterday, I couldn’t understand what my host mother said, so I bought normal ticket. New Zealand‘s bus is much different to Japanese bus. The bus in New Zealand is not on time to timetable. I wanted to catch a bus of 7:50. But the bus came to my bus stop at 8:05. I was worried about if I can go to Language Institute on time.
A bus driver in New Zealand is also different. They are much friendly than Japanese. He taught me the day saver ticket yesterday. Now I have understood. I was very surprised because I think Japanese bus driver looks like they are angry but he was too kind to taught me with smiling.
My host family has 5 member – father, mother, 13-year-old boy, 11-year-old girl, and 6-year-old girl. The children are very cute. I can’t look at 6-year-old girl without remember my youngest brother.

The first impression of New Zealand

Mitsunori Shimizu

My first impression of New Zealand is that people in New Zealand are easy-going & kind, but sometimes their personality looks rude. I can’t believe people who walk with their barefoot, who walk in the rain with no umbrella or who eat junk food always. I just want to eat something with soy sauce… (^ ^;)

Tomoko Yokota

I thought that buses in Hamilton are always late.
I hope to come to here again!

I am sad these days because I’m going to Japan in a few days. I experienced a lot of things during one month in New Zealand. Everybody that I met was very kind. So, I don’t want to go back to Japan. But, I want to go back to Japan a little. I like both New Zealand and Japan. At first, I couldn’t enjoy because I didn’t know about New Zealand people and this country but I can enjoy now. I learned something during one month in this country and I think I have grown up a little. I was seventeen in this country so I want this experience to be important and I never forget it. Thank you for letting me stay a month  !!
My impression Hiromi Kaneko Hibarigaoka

First, when I arrived at the airport I was very surprised at how hot it was.

In New Zealand it is summer so it was very hot.

I was looking forward to seeing my host family.

When I stay home I missed something. Because, I couldn’t enter into the bath.

And, I couldn’t eat New Zealand food. But , I think New Zealand food is very delicious and healthy.

But, I couldn’t eat enough. They are many different tastes both New Zealand and Japan.

I want to tell my friends and family about my New Zealand life.
Last impressions
Now I have been staying for about 4 weeks. I knew there is no bus on the weekends. It’s not convenient.  The fruits in New Zealand are better than Japan. They are very fresh.
However I’m looking forward to eating Japanese food. I am Japanese. So it is natural to like Japanese food better than New Zealand.
People in New Zealand are relaxed. On the other hand they are very interested in gardening and they are trying very hard to become more beautiful. Working hours are longer than Japan. However I think the salary is not so good.
I’m going to miss New Zealand’s natural surroundings and nice teachers my host family Aileen, Andrew.
I will visit New Zealand someday.
My last impression       Yoshiko Tagashira
I am looking forward to meeting my family, friends, dog and eat Japanese foods, but I am going to miss my host mother and other people who I met and became friends with. I want to stay longer.
My most exciting experience is staying with native English speakers.  I had a very good time with my host mother, two Canadian girls and other people. They are very kind so I could enjoy staying here. I would like to come back soon. I will tell my friends and family about all of my trip and I will recommend to visit here.
I am sad to go back to Japan. Thank you.
My last impressions

We are going back to Japan in 4 days.   What I will miss the most are my teachers in New Zealand.  They were very nice and I could ask a lot of questions even a very easy question.  Teachers in New Zealand were very kind and also funny, especially my teacher. Kitty’s class was enjoyable because she told us a lot about her family,  her daughter and her son.
Classes were so different from Japanese classes.  There were less people in a class.   At 11:00a.m. every day,  we had a tea break .  I really enjoyed it.
I also enjoyed shopping at the City Centre.   I went to the mall almost every day with my friends and I think I will miss New Zealand ice cream, too.
Anyway, I really enjoyed my stay in New Zealand!!!
I will never forget the day I spent in New Zealand!!!!!
So, now is the time to say ‘ good bye’ (nearly)

I am looking forward to meeting my family and my dog. But I’m sad because I don’t want to be separated from my host family and my friend. My friend is Korean. Her name is Sunny. She is very good person. My host family are very funny and kind, too. I like them very much. I was surprised when I came to the New Zealand, because sunshine is very strong.

My stay is nearly over.  I feel very sad because I want to speak English, and I feel that my English has become better than when I was in Japan. I want to stay here longer.  At the same time, I want to see my friends in Japan, too.  When I think about that, I want to go back to Japan as fast as I can.
My host family is very kind and nice.  She is my family, now. I will have to say good-bye to her. I’m very sad, however, I will write a letter to her when I get back to Japan. Maybe, I will send a thank you card to her, and send some photos.
Kiwi people are very kind, friendly and nice people.
I will not forget them and New Zealand forever or I will be not able to forget them and New Zealand forever!!!
My Last Impressions
