The Hessen-Wisconsin Partnership

The Partnership was first established out of the personal commitment of the then Wisconsin governor and his Hessen counterpart, the relationship has become one of the strongest pillars of German-American relations.

1976 Wisconsin Governor Patrick J. Lucey and Hessen Minister President Albert Osswald sign the Partnership agreement.

1984 Wisconsin opens a business trade office in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (Closed 2002 but now has an affiliate office in Wiesbaden)

1990
Wisconsin and Hessen agree to establish and maintain a relationship between their schools.

1997 Minister President Hans Eichel and a group of Hessen folk artists come to join in our Sesquicentennial Celebration.

1998 The University of Wisconsin and the Hessen Ministry of Science and Art sign a partnership agreement.

2000 The Wisconsin Technical College System and Hessen sign an education exchange agreement.

2001 Minister President Roland Koch and Governor Scott McCallum celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Sister State relationship.

2005 University Research Park and Frankfurter Innovationszentrum Biotechnologie sign a Sister-Park Memorandum of Understanding

2008 The city of La Crosse observes a Hessen-Wisconsin Day to celebrate 10 years of sister-state collaboration with Hessen, Germany.
