"Jackson County
State of Tennessee
. . . James Cason a resident of said county Jackson Tennessee, ageseventy four doth on his oath make the following declaration in orderto obtain his pension. He stated that he enlisted inthe state troopsof Virgina in Spottsylvania COunty, Virginia, March 15,1777, servedunder Capt. James Quarles, Lt. Thomas Minor, Colo. Comm. (G.) Smith,Colo. Charles Dabney, Major Lee, and joined Gen. Washington at ValleyForge, Colo. Willima Brent, Capt. Long, and was in the Battle ofMonmouth, and marched to Stoney Point to join Gen. Wayne. He wasdischarged in 1780. He was born 23rd July 1758 (he has no record ofhis age) in Orange County state of Virginia. James Cason'

'State of Tennessee, jackson County, March Term, 1856 JamesCason, was a United States Revolutionary Soldier, die in the county ofJackson, Tennessee, on the 12 July 1842, leaving no widow but threechildren . . . Edward M. Cason, Susannah Cason, and Eliza S. Cox,beign the only children now alive of the said James Cason, decd., hehad by Rebecca Cason.
James Cason and Rebecca Cason were married February 17,1785.Rebecca Cason deceased September 8, 1836, age 70 years.
Cason departed this life 12 July 1842, age 83 years, 11 months, and 20days."

Enlisted in the state troops of Virginia in Spottsylvania County,Virginia, March 15, 1777. Served under Capt. James Quarles, Lt. ThomasMinor, Colo. Comm. Smith, Colo. Charles Dabney, Major Lee, and joinedGen. Washington at Valley Forge, Colo. William Brent, Capt. Long, andwas in th Battle of Monmouth, and marched to Stoney Point to join Gen.Wayne. He was discharged in 1780.
Revolutionary War service records on James Cason showed service inCaptain Quarles Company of the 2nd Regiment, Virginia State Line, forthe years of 1778-1779. He enlisted for three years. He was at ValleyForge and Middlebrook. He was in the hospital from September toNovember 1778 at New Windsor.
[531] A written note in "Nevin Genealogica" shows the date to be 1941, AnneKrush's charts show it his death to be due to a heart attack in 1952.
