Love Me Now
If you're ever going to love me, love me now,
While I can know the sweet and tender feeling which from real affection flow.
Love me now while I am living; do not wait until I'm gone and then
chisel it in marble warm "love" words in ice-cold stone.
If you have dear sweet thoughts about me, why not whisper them to me?
Don't you know it would make me happy and as glad as can be?
If you wait till I am sleeping, never to waken here again, there will
be walls of earth between us and I could not hear them then.
I won't need your kind caress when the grass grows on my face.
I won't crave your love and kisses in my last resting place.
So, then if you love me any, if it's not a little bit, let me know while
I am living, I can own and treasure it.
