Lyrics (aka mondegreens)
This is a proud moment here at headquarters...
Our campaign to get Augie March to put their lyrics onto albums has succeeded...
through our sheer utter wrongness, Glenn has had no other option
available except to provide accurate lyrics, lest the world is tricked
into believing the lyrics on this site... Yet we press on, because
there are still songs we can sully with our dirty hands *evil laughter*...
And so, we still require this disclaimer:
Do not take the lyrics as Holy Writ. I will not take responsibility for
any embarrassment suffered if you happen to sing along, and discover that
the words are wrong. Or, worse, if you're presumptuous enough, the
total humiliation which will ensue if you even consider attempting to correct
Glenn on the lyrics. "No, Glenn, I'm afraid you're wrong, I am _sure_
you should be singing 'sleep imperfection'..." You have been warned.
The songs which should be correct, as in they were copied from liner notes,
are: all the songs on Sunset Studies, and all the songs on Waltz barring
Rich Girl.
Thanks etc must go to the Augieans who have helped me decipher what lyrics
I have.
Believe Me (Sunset Studies - an instrumental/weird li'l thing)
Blue and White (unreleased early song)
The Casting Off (unreleased)
Cherry Tree Creek (unreleased)
Darling Little Ones (unreleased)
Heartbeats
& Sails (Sunset Studies, video clip and promo-only single)
The Hopper Song
Juggernaut Boy (unreleased)
I Am Kingless (an early demo)
Lazy Pines (HiYR single)
Lonely Suit (an early song)
Poor Dog's Soul (Glenn solo)
Primitive Wishes (we think that's the name, anywa - a new song)
Renaissance (unreleased)
Rocket On The Esplanade (unreleased)
She's a Babel (unreleased)
Tasman
Awakens (demo on HiYR single, Sunset Studies)
Tulip
(Sunset Studies)
I'm still working on the lyrics for the other songs - they're
about half-finished, and in no fit state to be seen. When they are, I promise
you will see them. Plus there are still undeciphered sections in the new
and Memes songs - if you can help, drop me a line via email - the address
is below. Damn the band for writing songs faster than I can decipher
them. (Yes, I am talking to you, Glenn)
You will also be interested to know that there is another
Augie March fan site which is devoted to AM lyrics, as opposed to this
site, which is a kind of Jack of All Trades. Click here
to go there.
[Incidentally, I am on a campaign to screw Glenn's mind up so much that
he ends up singing the lyrics that I've got here, rather than the lyrics
he wrote. If you want to help me in my amusingly evil scheme (amusing for
me, evil for Glenn), let me know.]
