Bays expose Redleg worries

Anyone going to Norwood Oval on Friday night expecting to see a high-flying Norwood demolish the lowly ranked Bays was quickly put in their place as Glenelg scored two goals inside the first three minutes.
Glenelg threw out an unrelenting challenge to the Redlegs and dominated possession, but nevergave the feeling they were going to take the points.
The extraordinary natyre of the game, lopsided in so many ways, must provoke some serious evaluation and action from both clubs.
The Bays ran tirelessly and peppered their forward lines, occasionally breaking through thanks to opportunists goalsneaks like Kevin Maher.
But with no leading forward target, all that possesion reaped little reward. Turning hurried behinds into set shots is the responsibility of a key forward, something Glenelg did not have on Friday.
Norwood's accuracy was impeccable , paticularly in the muddy, wet conditions. But despite a hard hitting attack on the football, the tempo was relaxed and never reached the desperation of Glenelg.
Norwood's skills and teamwork were top claa, but coach Neville Roberts was right to be concerned over the 'Legs need to produce finals football.
Captain Anthony Harvey, who showed he is fully recovered with a gutsy performance at the Parade, is sure to make a difference in that department, as should the expected return next week of John Cunningham.
