ROUND 3
Saturday 14th of April.

SOUTH 4.3 9.6 16.9 23.9 (147)
GLENELG 2.2 6.4 8.7 12.9 (81)

Hall unstoppable as Bays routed.

By David Valente.
South Adelaide shrugged off a slow first quarter to over whelm Glenelg and claim its opening victory of the year at Noarlunga yesterday.
Glenelg, which opened the second quarter with three goals in six minutes scored only two of the next 16 majors from a Kane Cornes' goal at the 15-minute mark. South went on to win 23.9 (147) to 12.9 (81).
Ordinary disposal plagued the Panthers in the first term, a result of the Tiger's relentless pressure.
However, after the break South began to find its confidence and quality disposal through a tireless rung of men such as Chris Hall, Kym Koster and Paul Meekins setting them apart. South won most of the rucking contests through the height of Dean Brogan and Simon Crawshay and Hall and Koster made the most of their opportunities racking up prolific possessions.
Hall, in particular, was unstoppable, finishing with 30 kicksand 12 marks and chipping in with 3 goals. Thrilled to get a win on the board after two frustrating weeks, South coach Greg Anderson applauded the skills and mental discipline the Panthers built throughout the game.
"In the past couple of weeks we battled really hard but turned the ball over too much. Today our skills were really good," Anderson said.
"We ran pretty well but once we started to use the ball better than we had lately, players worked very hard to give an option." Looking forward to filling a void at full-forward, Anderson started the match with defender Dean Talbot at the sharp end but by the second term he was back in his customary position protecting South's lead.
Allan Murray now looms as the obvious solution to Anderson's full-forward woes after bagging 6 goals yesterday while brother Derek Murray and exciting new comer Dillon Stephenson provided 2 excellent leading options. The Tiger's slowed as the game wore on, their pressure all but evaperated but two second-half goals to Ben Moore and two more to Kane Cornes in the last quarter kept them from complete collapse.
Bay coach Brenton Honor took the blame for the loss saying he was "obviously not getting my message accross at the moment".
"I have some work to do", Honor said.
