xEdit
xEdit is a raw mode HTML coding tool. Developed to be fast and simple
to use it requires a knowledge of HTML in order to develop web pages.
Current xEdit features include:
- Ability to edit multiple files by means of a tabbed notebook interface.
- Code snippets (individual text files), which can contain chunks of code/text which would appear in several places, or be updated often in the web site. Code snippets can be updated thoughout a project quickly and painlessly. For example: the entire menu and navigator bars on this website are code snippets. When a change to the menu (or navigator) is required a change to the snippet is made and then updated across all HTML pages that use that snippet.
- Support for HTML 4.0 tags.
- Syntax highlighting in the editor, which even supports embedded Javascript, stylesheets and other web technologies.
- Dialogs to assist the user with common tags and ensure correct syntax.
- Support for JavaScript (.JS) code files
- Pretty HTML which tidies the HTML source code and indents it to assist in locating start and end tags for open/close tags, eg <P> </P>
- Keyboard macro recording.
