To the rock beat of the Russian Perestroika era, war, nuclear terrorism, neo-Stalinism, domestic violence, and Chernobyl AIDS overshadow Nikolai and Anna's passionate romance. The script for 6 players with chorus options allows for great versatility in production size. Running time is about 2:30 with an intermission recommended. We model the plot and characterizations of this black comedy on the classic The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevski.
Many have pointed out to us that we have the "Musical of the Millenium." In truth, American Lives Inc., and the National Values Center have identified a large segment of the American population identified as "Cultural Creatives": they are "concerned about social issues, such as violence and rebuilding communities, embrace the foreign and exotic, and are forging a new sensibility of personal growth, service and spirituality with a guarded optimism about society's prospects." Full script and songbook available to production companies on request. Thank you for your requests and to those who are currently in pre-production.
