See the Ceiling? I WIN!
I started wrestling on the boys team at my high school when I was a sophomore. I started because it was an area of martial arts where I was totally incompetant. I fell in love with the art form.
I'm working on starting a wrestling team at Smith College, but for now it's just something I love to do. I've only met one female that can pin me. Her weight class is 140 or 145-ish and she's 4 or 5 inches taller than me. I don't feel so bad about getting pinned by her. Swoon!
Weight at last weigh-in: | 118 pounds | This is too little. My minimum weight is 120. Bad Scruffy. |
Height: | 63.75 inches | This is 1.25 inches less than when I first started wrestling. Severe bone loss bad. |
Take-down | Headlock | Headlocks are alllllll about hips :P I have major hip strength. I've hip tossed a 178 pound neophyte. |
Break-down Technique | Turk or Near Arm Jerk | Turks are fun. Start in referee's position. Lift their near leg up and place it on your leg's thigh (with your nearest leg at a 90 degree angle) and sink a half. Torque your hip so their leg goes over their other leg and you have a grapevine on their new near leg. Oh look! A reverse half! PIN! Near Arm Jerks don't roll your opponent, but it does break them down from such a strong position. Start with referee's position. Really sink your stomach-hand so you're holding their side. Shift your hand on their elbow so it's inside the hinge of their elbow. Pull both arms, thereby yanking them and making them post onto the arm you've got. Oops, you just made them bend that arm. If you get really good, you can totally turn them onto their back or side with this technique. |
