The 'magician' is called an "Influencer." Everything has life energy. Somethings have more than others, sentient beings usually have more than non-sentient beings, living things usually have more than inanimate objects. This energy cannot be ordered around, it must influenced into doing the Influencer's task. It must be made to understand that it wants to do what the task is. At the highest levels, the Influencer's will becomes one with the will of the energy. To understand how much that means - the energy is the universe. So the Master Influencer's will is completely at one with the will of the universe. While devious ('evil') influencers may find it easier to influence the energies, only an influencer who seeks total honesty and openness can become one with the energies can perform the most impressive acts of Influencing.
