Along Route 30 in the Florida Panhandle, there is a small town named Carrabelle. The biggest tourist attraction in the town is the world's smallest police station. It's not in use anymore, but the old police station is still sitting on the side of the road across the street from Carrabelle's old jail cell. The police station is actually a phone booth. When someone would make a call to 911, this phone would ring and be answered by a waiting police officer parked outside of the phonebooth. This system probably worked well until the patrolling police officers were out at calls and the police officer that had to answer the phone had to go to a call, leaving nobody to answer the phone. Carrabelle has since opened up a larger police station and the phonebooth no longer recieves calls, but instead sits on the side of the road as a little known roadside attraction... |
