Requirements for the search and rescue dog include trainability, agility and endurance. The search dog is a valued member of his handler’s family. Most handlers prefer to begin training a young puppy. However, an older dog who has developed a good working relationship with his handler may be suitable.

Some of our most unusual and interesting training sessions have been at night. We try to anticipate all types of situations and continually test our dogs and handlers under a variety of conditions, including training sessions with other SAR units.
