Fictitious
Reading Series
an evening of nothing but fiction

ABOUT

The Fictitious Reading Series is a Toronto reading series organized by Stuart Ross and Kate Sutherland. Each installment features substantial readings by two fiction writers, plus an informal, onstage chat/interview with the featured writers about their work. Readings are held on the last Sunday evening of each month in the gallery space above This Ain't the Rosedale Library (483 Church Street). Admission is by donation and the money donated goes directly to the writers.

Stuart Ross is the author of several collections of poetry and fiction including The Inspiration Cha-Cha, the Trillium-shortlisted Farmer Gloomy's New Hybrid, Razovsky at Peace, Hey, Crumbling Balcony! Poems New & Selected, and Henry Kafka and Other Stories, and also a collection of personal essays titled Confessions of a Small Press Racketeer. In Spring 2007, Anvil Press released his latest collection of poems I Cut My Finger. Stuart is co-founder of the Toronto Small Press Book Fair and has edited several literary magazines, most recently, the poetry magazine Syd & Shirley. He is the fiction and poetry editor of This Magazine.

Kate Sutherland's first book of short stories, Summer Reading, won a Saskatchewan Book Award in 1995. Her second, All In Together Girls, was published by Thistledown Press in Spring 2007. Her stories have appeared in various Canadian literary magazines including Grain, Prairie Fire, The New Quarterly, Kiss Machine, Taddle Creek, and This Magazine.
