There use to be a text in this section saying "Coming soon: PPH's Guide to Orchestral tracking". I never started to write the guide. So, what I'm going to do is the following: instead of writing a big guid, I'm going to write small articles, one at a time. This way, I can start posting articles right now, and those interested will have something to read instead of having to wait for something that, due to it's size and pretentiousness, would probably never come. If you're a total beginner, then a good place for you to start to learn about trackers is this article from the Wikipedia. Be sure to visit Modplug Central and the Renoise websites too. Renoise's help file has an excellent description of what tracking software is and how it works. Take a look here. Trackers are a good alternative to MIDI sequencers and with today's technology you can achieve professional quality with them at a very cheap price (or even without spending a dime, apart from the fact that you need a computer). Modplug Tracker is free and Renoise's demo is fully functional except for the fact that you can't export your work to .WAV and that the free version doesn' support ASIO (if you're a beginner, ignore this last part). |
