Throughout my college career, I have been an active part in a few diverse organizations and activities. Listed below is a description of each of the groups I have participated in.
ACM International Collegate Programming Competition
As a member of one of UCIrvine's ACM ICPC teams, I have learned various team skills
necessary to work in a diverse field. One such skills I have picked up is the ability to
coordinate the team and function under the pressure, such as the need to solve numerous
difficult problems within a very limited time limit without making many errors. Not only
were we able to work together to solve many of the problems, we were able to help UCI
place within the top 10 teams of the competition.
Republic of China Student Association (ROCSA)
I became Secretary for the on-campus Taiwanese student association at UCIrvine called
ROCSA for the 2006-07 academic school year. As the secretary, I was responsible for
organizing all member information, keeping track of all paperwork, and bringing all the
staff together for our meetings and events. By slowly learning the needed ability on
organizing a group of people for a common goal, I was able to help our club enjoy one of
the most successful year in its current history.
Anime Expo (AX)
During the past few years, I have been help staffing for the popular Anime Expo, hosted
here in the Los Angeles/Orange County. As a volunteer staff, I was responsible for not
only my duties to my department, but also upholding the guidelines and regulations given
by the department, division, and the parent organization, Society for the Promotion of
Japanese Animation (SPJA). From working closely with my team throughout the entire
convention, we have helped make AX one of the largest conventions here in Southern
California.
