Course Description

This class is structured for native Spanish speakers. Students develop basic proficiency skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking in a culturally authentic context in a continuation of the beginning level course. Students further improve their conversation skills using a 1,000-1,200-word vocabulary and appropriate conversation level grammatical patterns. The study of Hispanic/Latino/Chicano culture is integrated into the curriculum, providing the student with a better understanding of the daily use of the language.


Grading

  • A = 90-100%
  • B = 80-89%
  • C = 70-79%
  • D = 60-69%
  • F =  59%
<>A quarter grade is based on the total number of points from the tests, quizzes, homework, workbook, and class participation during that period. The percentages of the total are approximately:
  • Homework=10%
  • Class participation= 10%
  • workbook =10%
  • Working in class= 10%
  • Projects=10%
  • Tests and Quizzes 50%

A final exam will be given at the end of each semester.

GRADING PROCEDURES

  1st Quarter : 40%
  2nd Quarter: 40%
  Sem. Exam: 20%
