Helmet Pictures #4

Yet even more select photos from the history of football

The Jets 'jet' helmet from 1963. Background is white, jet and stripes are green, facemask is gray.

Two shots of the Jet oval helmet from 1964. Changed the following year to the football logo made famous in Super Bowl III and brought back in 1998.

A pretty good shot of the Shreaport Steamer from the WFL. Used in 1975. The logo is a steamboat on the water inside a football.

The original helmet design of the Washington Ambassadors of the WFL. They moved to Virginia before settling in Florida and becoming the Blazers. Never actually worn in a game.

A poor quality game phot of the Charlotte Stars from the WFL in 1974. They wore the helmet only 1 game after moving from New York. Helmet was black with a gold star and a Chicago Bears C on top of it. After this game they became the Hornets whose helmet looked like...

The Charlotte Hornets of the WFL. Used part of 1974 and 75.

WFL media guide showing team helmet logos from the 1975 season. There are a few differences between the logos here and the ones actually worn: no circle around the Vulcans V, the train in the Express logo was inside a football, and Wings logo was on the front of the helmet, as you can see in this drawing:

San Antonio Wings from 1975. Drawing is accurate.

Al Dorow of the New York Titans. Team eventually changed name to the Jets.

Poor quality shot from Winnipeg of the CFL. Not sure of the year, I just thought the helmet was interesting.
