The Queen Sonja International Music Competition will next time be arranged for singers 14 - 22 August 2003, in Oslo. Fifty selected talented singers from all over the world will compete for several concert engagements and prizes for more than 30 000 US$. The jury will be constituted of prominent personalities from the international opera society. The competition consists of three rounds. In the finals, six finalists will sing operatic arias with The Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in the Oslo Concert Hall. The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation will broadcast from the competition. The finals are broadcast live on national TV.

NATIONAL COMPETITION

Prior to the international competition, a national competitive audition will be arranged 5 - 6 April 2003 for Norwegian singers. Five of the contestants will proceed to the finals and perform opera arias with The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra 24 April 2003. The finalists will take part in the preliminary rounds of the international competition.
