So
what's happening downtown Dayton?
Dayton
is home to a fantastic downtown for a city of under 200, 000
residents. Like any other urban center across the United States,
Dayton has had it's share of hardship and decline of the years
in downtown. This has all changed drastically over the past 2
years as Dayton has seen an extraordinary amount of construction
and jobs moving downtown.
It
all began with the groundbreaking of what was to become 5/3
Field, home of the Dayton Dragons Class A Pro Baseball team.
After that, a series of projects just seemed to have magically
fallen into Dayton's lap. The Schuster Performing Arts Center,
Riverscape, Relizon World Headquarters, Ice Avenue Lofts, the
RTA-American Building renovation, St. Clair Lofts, the Reibold
Building renovation and new parking garage addition, and the
Market Street Lofts are just a few of the projects happening
downtown currently. In addition, Reynolds and Reynolds has
recently announced a move to the Elder-Beerman Dept. store which
will include a $16 million renovation of the complete building.
Not
since the 70's has Dayton seen such a large amount of
construction downtown. What will the next few years bring? One
cannot be sure, but one thing is certain...downtown is
happening!
