He married on 10 Aug 1837 in Monroe Co., Ash Twp, MI, Sophia Allen, born 21 Jul 1816 in Madrid, St. Lawrence , NY; died 12 Dec 1898 in Waupaca, Waupaca, WI; buried in Baldwin Mills, Waupaca, WI, daughter of Samuel Russell Allen and Sarah Jane Powers.

2. Hannah Batten, born about 1840 in Galena, IL, died young.
3. George William Batten, born 8 Jan 1842 in Grand Rapids, Portage, WI. He married (1) Lena HABERSAAT. He married (2) Sarah Eliza WHALEY. He married (3) Huldah Williams Horton. He married (4) Sarah Francis Benjamin.
4. Clarissa Batten, born 8 Oct 1846 in , , WI.
5. Luther Wesley Batten, born 28 Aug 1848 in Stevens Point, Portage, Waupaca, WI. He married Helen Hermance.
6. John H. Batten, born 7 Dec 1851. He married Eleanor DEXTER.
7. Adeline Batten, born 19 Feb 1855. She married George Wesley DUNBAR.
