Trapping with "Trapper Bill" |
A Little Bit About "Trapper Bill" |
My name is Bill, I am a trapper. I started trapping with my grandfather
when I was a little boy, he showed me how to trap rabbits, groundhogs and
possum that were getting into my mother's garden. And later he showed me how
to trap racoons for fur in the fall, and fox in the winter. As I became a teenager
and got my driver licence, I began to trap local farms in Washtenaw County, for
racoons, fox and mink, and eventually coyotes. And now coyotes are my main
target animal, mostly for fur and some damage control. I have attended the Fur
Takers College in Lagrange, Indiana, and I have also had private instruction from
Ardell Grawe in Wahpaton, North Dakota. I have limited experience trapping
beaver, and have also done some private instruction myself. I also enjoy predator
calling and bass fishing.

The foot of a Red Fox that was caught in a modern steel jaw trap. As you can see, the modern traps can catch an animal unharmed.
| I am also displaying this picture of a coyote's foot because he has a thicker skin, harder bones and a superior muscular skeleton. The red fox and coyote were
caught in the same kind of trap. |
