The effects

1986 in Anaheim, CA.

A garage, some beer and 3 extremely talented musicians with a dream.

The effects began when my longtime friend Hap James (bass) joined a band called Emerald Summit and I "borrowed" their drummer Pam Idriss (daughter of the jazz artist/songwriter who wrote the Woody Woodpecker theme and one hell of a nice person). The trio played a party in La Habra Heights, CA and the rest is history.

Our friendship melded a single unit of white hot burning intensity that extended into every fiber of our music. You'll have to listen to our version of Pink Floyd's song Breathe that melds into a speedy version of the Dead's Space and finally into Baby Please Don't Go. If this doesn't move you, you're flat lined.

The effects played a combination of rock, jazz, acid, blues and anything else that fell into place. This was a power trio true to the term. The band lasted about 7 years until the various members went their separate ways. The band gets together every now and then to dust off the big guns and make true effects music. I'll always love both Happle and Pam like they are my own family.

To know the band is to have heard them. The beauty is that there is about 40-50 hours of various formats of tape with about 15 years worth of music. The first of what may be 5 CDs should be available soon. If you are interested in true Jam music without boundries, let me know and I'll put you on the advanced purchase list.
