Just chop off the spears and replace them with a sword blade, either made from plastic (ie flogged off another figure), or even from cardboard. Since writing this, Steven Montegue has suggested..well, I'll let him tell you in his own words... I dont think that will be needed as they would have had some sort of spear, an imitation Pilum perhaps? You could therefore save your self some work by leaving the spear in place. What do you think?
