About Dan Alvarez - Day Trading Tutor

My name is Dan Alvarez (Day Trading Tutor). I just wanted to let you know a little bit about myself so that you get to know me better.

I am the [self- designated :) ] CEO of my firm, Day Trading Tutor LLC based in Miami, Florida. I've always considered myself a visionary, since I'm always trying to change the world of trading and investing.

I work with talented traders who manage portfolios for clients in different parts of the world. I'm also always looking for new, talented traders all the time.

In the last few years I have gotten out of stocks completely because I feel that the stock market will experience some extremely difficult times in the near future lasting perhaps several years or more. The investments I am involved with have no correlation whatsoever to stocks and other economically sensitive asset classes like bonds and real estate. In the past, I have been a stock trader and investor. I have obtained extensive experience day trading stocks through a direct-access trading system using level II. In fact, my initial foray into the world of day trading was with stocks using a direct-access trading platform named RealTick. Today, I believe that trading currencies offers day traders a lot more advantages than stock trading. That is why I spend the great majority of my time dealing with the forex (foreign exchange) market and not stocks. In the past, I have privately managed investment portfolios for a few friends and acquaintances. Now I am exclusively focused on alternative investments via the forex or foreign exchange market. The traders I work with exclusively manage forex accounts.

I am a trading and investment professor at Miami-Dade Community College (now called Miami-Dade College). Even though teaching has always been my passion and I enjoy it immensely (despite the lack of financial rewards), lately my involvement with an infinite number of international projects and the birth of my daughter Sophia on December 9th, 2004 (my first) and my son Kaiser on December 29th, 2006 (my second - and last!) have kept me away from education almost exclusively. Nevertheless, I teach every once in while and I believe that all of us should strive to be teachers at some level or another in our lives.

In my spare time I enjoy playing softball (our team is called the "Day Trading Robots" and we compete in an advanced league at Tropical Park, Miami, FL). I also like playing basketball and lifting weights (can you tell that I am a sports fanatic? :-)

I strongly believe that we should all strive to be best that we can be (I sound like an Army commercial) as people. That is how I live my life every day.

I also enjoy reading a lot. I have read a lot of books on day trading, but (unfortunately) they have not been very useful. I wrote the trading e-book that you get when you request the day trading simulator. (I am also planning to provide a lot more information and e-books via my blog - once it's finished). You can use this ebook both for mini accounts and standard accounts. My favorite investing books are The Warren Buffett Way, by Robert G. Hagstrom and Beating the Street, by Peter Lynch. In the non-investment category, my favorite books are How to Win Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie and The Holy Bible (NIV) (my favorite book and one that has changed [and continues changing] my life).

You should also read the information on day trading currencies, because I think that currencies are much better to day trade than stocks.

Over the years many of you have asked me if I day trade accounts for others. As a result, I have gotten involved in algorithmic trading (e.g., the the day trading robot) and with highly-skilled traders that manage accounts for investors.
