A soft breeze wafted through the house. It tugged gently on Mackenzie’s short, guazey night shift, toying with the fabric. She stood in front of a pair of french doors which opened onto the small balcony off of the bedroom. The salty sea air added a tang to the wind, a quality that she had come to appreciate. One of the curtains that hung on the side of the door frame brushed against her leg. It’s material was lightweight and skimmed her skin gently. Mackenzie smiled as she recalled the day that she had purchased them. After Lou’s death, the police submitted herself and the others to a grueling inquisition, during which, they had proven Mackenzie’s rightful ownership of Mobey Enterprises turned New Leaf Enterprises. Her inheritance had been restored, N.L.E. had been disbanded, and Mackenzie had used a small portion of her new assests to buy the house in Florida where the fresh curtains hung.
Now, as she watched the stars twinkle in the night sky, Mackenzie was glad to have her days of as a nomad behind her. Never had she enjoyed living anywhere in the world, as she enjoyed living here, in her own house.
Someone’s arms snaked around her waist then, and pulled her near. The person’s lips gently pressed a kiss to her colarbone.
“I was worried when I woke up and you weren’t in bed.” he chastised gently. Mackenzie turned in his arms, and wrapped her arms around his neck, bringing her face close to his. She starred into his warm brown eyes for a moment before responding.
“And, just where would I be at this time of night?” she asked, amused. Mackenzie ran her fingertips over the jagged scar which marred the upper right side of his chest.
“Hopefully, in my arms.” Howie returned her smile. “It is after all, where you belong.”
Still there were tears in your eyes
Full out of trust,
And I knew
No more the mysterys and lies
There you were, wild and free
Reaching out like you needed me
A helping hand, to make it right,
I am holding you all through the night
I’ll be the one
Who will make all your sorrows undone
I’ll be the light
When you feel like there’s no where to run
I‘ll be the one
To hold you
And make sure that you’ll be alright
‘cause my fear is gone, and I want to
Take you from darkness to light
There you are, wild and free
Reaching out like you needed me
A helping hand
To make things right
I am holding you all through the night
I’ll be the one
Who will make all your sorrows undone
I’ll be the light
When you feel like there’s no where to run
I’ll be the one
To hold you
And make sure that you’ll be alright
You need me
I need you
We can share our dreams coming true
I can show you
What true love means
Just take my hand, baby please
I’ll be the one
I’ll be the light
Where you can run
To make it alright
I’ll be the one
I’ll be the light
Where you can run.....
I’ll be the one
Who’ll make all your sorrows undone
I’ll be the light
When you feel like there’s no where to run
I’ll be the one
I’ll be the light’where you can run
To make it alright
I’ll be the one
I’ll be the light
Where you can run
To make it alright
I’ll be the one
To hold you
And make sure you’ll be alright
I’ll be the one.
