The screen is HERE!

April 10, 2003 K & W Audio called to say the screen was here. I picked it up and installed most of it on the 10th. The rest of the install had to wait until the 11th because Stewart shorted me an expanding bolt required to mount the screen.

March 26, 2003 After many hours of pouring over specs and reading what others had to say (avsforum), we decided to get the Stewart Filmscreen Luxus Screenwall with Firehawk fabric.
The screen will have a 96" x 54" viewable surface which is the same dimension as the homebuilt screen we are currently using. What makes the Firehawk so appealing is that it was designed by Stewart Filmscreen for our projector (Sharp XV-Z9000U). I went down to K&W Audio and they just happened to have a XV-Z9000U projector set up projecting on a 96x54 Firehawk. The only word that came to mind was "WOW!"
The screen is currently on order. I can't wait until it gets here. In the mean time, I have to rearrange the front of the theatre somewhat to make room for the centre channel speaker which was behind the homebuilt screen. This is not an option for the new screen as the Firehawk we're getting isn't acoustically transparent.

There is sconce lighting on the side walls and step lights so you don't trip going up to the second level. The sconce and step lights are controlled by Leviton X-10 dimmers and an Applied Digital "Ocelot" controller.
