I forget exactly how I came up with this series, though it was sometime between "The Roads We Walk" and "One Moment Longer". The idea of a universe where Serena and the others didn't get their memories back after the episodes so cruelly presented on North American television as "Day of Destiny" intrigued me, and I resolved to do something with it. Somehow, it got mixed in with the slightly light-hearted version of the Superman mythos being presented on ABC as "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman", which is why the newspaper angle entered into the mix.
Did I say light-hearted? Somehow, that aspect got dropped while I was writing the first episode. Go fig. These stories are fairly dark, and I absolutely hate episode four. Consider yourselves warned.
Incidentally, I'm fairly sure that I came up with the idea of Serena as a cartoonist before I found out that Tsukino Usagi may be a self portrait of Naoko Takeuchi.
And I am glad as all hell that this thing is finally over.
