The Wessex Model Boat club 88 of Bournemouth, Dorset, England, was re-formed as the title suggests in 1988, to cover all aspects of Model Boating. I am pleased to say the club to date has 39 members, of all ages, running fast electric, glowplug engine power boats, sail, and scale.
During the summer months from April to October, the club meets every Sunday at a private lake near Mannington, close to Three Legged Cross. There are also two other lakes available to the club, and these are :- rear of Bournemouth Hospital, and Queens Park Golf links.
Within the club there is a wealth of modelling experience, that covers electronics, kit building, and scratch building, through Sailing craft, Warships, Submarines, Commercial Shipping, & Power Boat racing. We hold several Regatta’s through out the summer, with Trophy’s and certificates awarded at the Nov AGM.We are also affiliated to the South West Association of Model Boat Clubs, and as such attend several of their events and competitions. We are a friendly club, with the accent on enjoyment for all. All new members are welcome, irrespective of age or genre.
