Doug Wilson was born on July 5, 1957, in Ottawa, Ontario. He played junior hockey in Winnipeg. Wilson was Chicago's 1st choice (6th overall) in the 1977 entry draft. He played defense for the Blackhawks from 1977 to 1991. Wilson was known as a solid defenseman who could also put the puck in the net. He holds the current Blackhawks records for most goals scored in a season by a defenseman with 39 and for most points in a season by a defenseman with 85. He accomplished this in the 1981-82 season. On September 6, 1991, Doug was traded to the San Jose Sharks. During his career he also served as president of the NHL Players Association and also formed an NHL Alumni Association. Today, Doug is a part owner of the San Jose Rhinos roller hockey team.
